1969
Ah yes- the famous flying Spitfire - which was previously owned by my good buddy Dave Redmond. I bought it from Dave in the fall of 1968 Dave was the photographer for the 1969 RMC yearbook - the "Review". Dave wanted to use a full page picture of "his" Spitfire flying through the air as the title page of the "Spring Term" section of the Review. After much searching we found a suitable spot and the two of us went out for the photo shoot. I was alone in the car for that first photo shoot and as a result the driver's side was way lower than the passenger side, so we decided we needed a re-shoot using a girl to balance the Spitfire - why didn't we think of adding a girl in the first place??? By now it was literally the day before the cut-off date for inserting photos into the review. Where to find a girl on 5 minutes notice. I was engaged to my wife Maureen at the time, who was living in Calgary - so I was out of touch with the ladies. Dave had lots of ladies but none available on 5 minutes notice. The lady in the Spitfire is Linda Watson, who I had dated in the fall of 1967 for at time. Gerry Gainer started dating her and she was his girl friend at the time of the photo shoot. I called her and the rest is history.

 Crazy days!

Best regards,

Mark (Moore)

  1. I have fond memories of Dave from our time in the same squadron in 4th year at RMC when our rooms were close. We had one novel "business" deal together. He had a wrecked mandolin which I traded him for something I had that he wanted. After I had refurbished the mandolin, he thought it looked so good that he regretted getting rid of it and bought it back from me.
