Obituary - 7769
It is with profound sorrow we share that Micheal Lawrance died
at home on April 16th, 2024 surrounded in love by his family after a fierce 28
month fight against cancer. He was 79 years old.
Born on February 24th, 1945 to Phyllis and Howard Lawrance of British Columbia.
A devoted Husband, dedicated Father and loving, gentle Baba, he is profoundly
loved and survived by his wife of 44 years Louise (nee Nadeau), his daughters
Evy (Brendan) and Caroline, and most cherished grandkids Cole, Maeve and
Henley. The eldest of ten siblings, Micheal is survived by sisters Lynne
(Grant), Anne (Orval) and Joan, brothers Brian, Steven (Laurie) and Bill, as
well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Phyllis and
Howard, brothers Rob and Richard, sister Clare, parents-in-law Ruth and Fernand
Nadeau, and brother Georges Nadeau.
Micheal loved the outdoors, and took great pleasure in spending as much time as
he could enjoying nature - whether it be kayaking, camping, stargazing,
snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, or hiking. He especially loved teaching his
much loved grandchildren about it. We imagine him now doing what he loved, free
of pain.
Our family would like to thank his medical team at The Ottawa Hospital and The
Ottawa Cancer Centre. Special thanks to his medical team - Dr. Roberts, Dr.
Castelluci, Dr. Mack, Dr. Malone and Dr. Boparai, his Home Care team - Mila,
Kelly, and Mohammed from St Elizabeth, and Sylvie from Carefor and many nurses
and PSWs from Bayshore Community Care, you all took such good care of him.
Our heartfelt gratitude to our friends and family who supported him through his
illness. We are forever thankful.
In lieu of flowers we ask that you send a donation to the Canadian Cancer
Society, to The Friends of Charleston Lake, or to The Friends of Algonquin
Park.
We are heartbroken. This loss has left a huge hole in our family. We will miss
his big laugh, youthful humour, warm hugs, and gentle calm nature. We will
honour his life by continuing to enjoy nature, to choose happiness, and to live
life. We love you Dad.
A celebration of his life has been planned for May 25th, 2024, 11:00am, at the
Capital City Funeral Home (3700 Prince of Wales Dr., in Ottawa).
