1970 Married air force nurse Judy Jeffs. Three children: 2 girls and a boy.
1971 - As a project engineer at 448 Test Squadron, Cold Lake, photographed, at 20,000 feet, a 500-ton TNT detonation at Suffield.
1972 – Provided media reports from Yellowknife on the 32-day search of NWT for Marten Hartwell, the guy who ate 40lbs of a dead English nurse after he crashed.
1973 – International Commission of Control and Supervision, South Viet Nam.
1976 – St. Hubert, for 1976 Montreal Olympics, supported 16,000 troops running Olympic sites or providing security. Just before the Olympics started, ordered by the Commander Mobile Command to “knock off” publicity for CF to allow the athletes a share of the media exposure.
1978 – From Ottawa, talked to the world’s media on the clean-up of nuclear debris across NWT from the crash of Soviet nuclear-powered satellite, Cosmos 954.
1986-1990 – Attended NATO Defence College, Rome, followed by NATO HQ, Brussels, as Public Affairs Advisor to Chairman of the Military Committee. Wrote the NATO strategy for incorporating news media with NATO forces in wartime. The strategy was first used in first Gulf War and, more recently with NATO allies in the Red Sea.
1996 – Marriage disintegrated during intense stress at home and work.
1996 - 1977 – Caught up in the Somalia scandal. Court-martialed and found not guilty. Kicked out anyway, but not before both the Minister and CDS resigned.
1999 – Married Marsha Scott, former major and Managing Editor of Sentinel Magazine. Moved to Niagara-on-the-Lake where we made many new and great friends, including the region’s winemakers.
2012 – Moved to Rockland, Ont, to care for my aging mother and aunt. Also to enjoy being closer to our shared four adult children and four grand children.
