 Education: 1964, recruited by Royal Canadian Navy as future MARS 71 officer o/c Military Colleges.

Degree: 1969 RMC BA Economics and Politics.

PS:  Took Ship Diving Officers Course summer 67 before reporting to RMC.

POSTINGS

1969/1972 -  HMCS Provider (stationed at CFB Esquimalt BC) - Summer/Fall 69 - Mars Officer Training at CFB Halifax

1970  Ship sailed to Osaka, Japan, and 3 other local ports for Expo 70.

31 Oct 70 - Married Margaret Tohill  - married 54 years. Have two children, Michel, 52, and Elaine 48. Have two great grandsons, Ryan 15, and Nathen 11  


1971 - Started MARS 71D  Clearance Diving Officer Course - 9 months at DCIEM Toronto, and 8 months at Washington, DC, for Salvage Diving and, at Indian Head, Maryland, for surface and underwater EOD.

1972/1977 - FDU (P) (Fleet Diving Unit Pacific at CFB Esquimalt) - Reported Jan 73 on completion of diving and EOD training,

                  - 1973/1975  - CO Diving Tenders.

                  - I1975-1977 - OIC EOD Section.

                  - 1977 - Promoted Lieutenant Commander.

1977/1979 - HMCS Iroquois, had several responsibilities.

1979/1981 - HMCS Montcalm, Quebec City, as Regular Forces Support Staff Officer.

1981/1985 - FDU(A)  (Fleet Diving Unit Atlantic located at CFB Shearwater, NS) as Executive Officer.

1985/1988 - HMCS Donnacona, Montreal, as Regular Forces Support Staff Officer.

1988/1992 - NDHQ Ottawa, within DMOPR (Directorate Maritime Operations, Policy and Readiness) responsible for CF Diving and EOD.

1992/1995 - NDHQ Ottawa, within DGOL (Director General Official Languages). Developed original 7000+ words Naval English to French lexicon.

1995/2001 - NDHQ Ottawa, within DMOPR responsible for CF Diving and EOD.

2001 - Retired from Regular Forces. Joined Naval Reserves via HMCS Cataraqui  and posted back to DMOPR within 3 weeks.

2001/2005 - NDHQ Ottawa, within DMOPR responsible for CF Diving and EOD..  Became fully involved developing and into the procurement of equipment for CF involvement in Afghanistan, such as air to ground surveillance from  -  tethered balloon and a containerized EOD portable laboratory.

2005 - Retired from Naval Reserve Forces, and Registered as a civilian contractor under JP Inc.

2005/2013 - Contractor to DMOPR within NDHQ Ottawa.. Carried on with the development and procurement of CF diving equipment and especially EOD equipment for Afghanistan.

2013 -  Fully retired and eventually dissolved JP Inc in 2022.

HOBBIES;

Photography, hunting, fishing, and travelling outside Canada.

Enjoying every summer at lake St Francis from June to October.
